Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your initial assessment is an opportunity for me to get to know you, your goals, and what you hope to achieve by working together. We’ll review your eating, exercise, and lifestyle habits, including things like your social life, work/school schedule, sleep, stress, and health history (including conditions or medications). From there, I’ll create a “nutrition diagnosis” and identify areas with the most room for improvement. By the end of your first appointment, you’ll leave with a personalized nutrition plan and clear next steps.

Do you provide meal plans?

Yes — when it’s warranted. Some people benefit from a structured meal plan, while others prefer flexible meal guidelines and a variety of snack and meal ideas. I’ll work with you to decide what approach best supports your goals and lifestyle.

How often do clients usually work with you?

This varies depending on your needs and goals. Some clients prefer weekly check-ins for accountability, while others meet every 2–4 weeks. Together, we’ll set a pace that feels realistic and sustainable for you.

What kind of support can I expect between sessions?

Support doesn’t end when your appointment does. You’ll have access to:

  • Messaging: Secure messaging for quick questions or encouragement.

  • Journal reviews: If you choose to log meals, symptoms, or habits, I’ll review them before each follow-up session.

  • Empathetic guidance: I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and encouraged.

Are Registered Dietitian services covered through insurance?

Many extended health care plans cover Registered Dietitian services. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

Do you bill insurance directly?

No, I don’t bill insurance directly at this time. After each appointment, you’ll receive a receipt you can submit to your provider for reimbursement.

How do virtual appointments work?

All appointments are hosted securely online through my EMR platform - Practice Better. You’ll receive a link ahead of time just like Zoom. Many clients enjoy the flexibility of meeting from home, work, or anywhere with a private space.

Do you work with clients for concerns outside of gut health or blood sugar concerns?
